A century-old traditional Ontario resort hotel, Viamede Resort, and adjoining Mount Julian, have been Stoney Lake landmarks since 1885. In 2010, the property was purchased by Ben Samann, who has transformed Viamede into something truly Boldly Different.
The Property: With 165 acres of unspoiled wilderness, our extensive facilities are well suited for both relaxation and adventure. We have 9 km of private forest trails, indoor and outdoor pools, a sand beach with a play structure, landscaped gardens, a historic wedding chapel, and a working, on-site farm where Groundskeeper tends our own livestock and raises our own vegetables for Mount Julian, our fine dining restaurant. The jewel of the property is beautiful Stoney Lake, with clean and clear waters, scenic islands, incredible boating and fishing, and fascinating century cottages.
Food and Drink: We have three unique restaurants on site at Viamede. Mount Julian, our fine dining restaurant housed in the original Inn at Mount Julian, showcases incredible gourmet fare with an emphasis on locally sourced, raised, and foraged food. With five, seven or nine-course tasting menus and a cellar full of hand-picked wines, you’ll be in foodie heaven.
The Boathouse is our Dockside Dining restaurant, drawing boaters and guests in for a surprising, local twist on a traditional menu, featuring delicious and hearty homemade classics, and cold craft beer. Open Canada Day to Labour Day.
Club 1885 is where you relax. All day cappuccinos, big fires, and s’mores. Foosball, ping pong, board games, and a kids’ play zone round out your stay on rainy days.
Pets Welcome: Viamede might be the most pet-friendly resort in Canada. Viamede has a very progressive pet policy that warmly welcomes well-behaved pets on vacation with their owners. All of our cottages are pet friendly, and we do not charge extra fees for guests who wish to enjoy a week or weekend vacation on Stoney Lake accompanied by their four-legged friend. We even have a free package designed exclusively for dogs.
Activities: Fun and relaxation are priorities at Viamede, and all of our activities and equipment are free for our guests. We have canoes, disc golf, paddle boats, pools, a tennis court, a sporting field, stand-up paddle boards, docks, a water trampoline, 9 km of wilderness trails, bicycles, snowshoeing—you name it. Rather than list everything you can do at Viamede, we’d rather show you.
Conference Facilities: Viamede has a variety conference rooms on site, offering quality conferencing and audio-visual technology. Our Boardroom features a gorgeous, custom-crafted wooden table and is perfect for smaller groups while our larger hall can comfortably accommodate up to 50 highly-motivated people. Be warned: corporate meetings at Viamede are not your usual hotel-for-business experience (in a very refreshing way).
Weddings: At Viamede, it’s all about you all weekend. Only one wedding at a time, because this isn’t a golf course. With an on-site heritage chapel and exclusive event bookings, where else can you take your time setting the scene and then simply head to your room when the big event is over?
