With 165 acres of unspoiled wilderness, you’ll find both relaxation and adventure here.

The jewel of the property is beautiful Stoney Lake, with clean and clear waters, scenic islands, incredible boating and fishing, and fascinating century cottages.

All of our activities and equipment are free for our guests. We have canoes, disc golf, stand-up paddle boards, docks, a water trampoline, bicycles, snowshoeing — you name it.

Rather than simply list everything you can do at Viamede, we’d rather show you:

Rent a boat

Rent one of our pre-dinged tin boats from the front desk or check out some of the other area rental options. Be advised, it's called Stoney Lake for a reason, so please drive carefully.

Viamede Farm.

We have our very own working farm at Viamede,
with a motley crew of free-range turkeys, ducks, quail and everyone’s favourite Tamworth pigs! Join us on a free tour every day at 3:30pm.

Take a Hike.

There are 9 km of marked walking/hiking trails ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎on the Viamede Resort property and 165 acres of wooded land to explore. Perfect for climbing and see our 100-year-old Viking Oak!

Petroglyphs Park.

This beautiful park is home to McGinnis Lake, one ‎ of the few meromictic (layers of water that don’t intermix) lakes in Canada and the petroglyphs, the‎ ‎largest known cache of Aboriginal rock carvings ‎in canada.

Grab a lounge chair and claim a spot on the dock with your favourite book. If you didn’t bring one, visit the Viamede Lending Library.

Summit Mount Julian.

Viamede’s restaurant is named for Mount Julian, the reward at the end of a local trail. Ask our staff for directions and take a picnic!

Swim all year round.

Enjoy a beautiful view of Stoney Lake from the heated waters of our state-of-the-art, all-season pool.

Get Wet.

Viamede has several swimming options including a sandy beach for a traditional dip in the clean, beautiful Stoney Lake, an outdoor pool, and a new indoor/outdoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a view of the lake year round.

A guest favourite, our giant water trampoline is in position for fun from June to September each year.

Grab a lift to the Lift Locks.
The Peterborough Lift Lock is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world and is a unique attraction among many along the Trent-Severn Waterway.

With over 100 canoes, kayaks, and paddle-craft on display,
the Canadian Canoe Museum is sure to give you a whole new appreciation
on the design and craftsmanship of these ever-worthy vessels.

We have a great selection of dvds for your in-room dvd player. There are classics, kids’, and contemporary films — even sport highlights and stand-up comedy. The videos are free, just please return them when you’re through for other guests to enjoy.

Paddle Stoney Lake at your own pace.
The waters are most peaceful in the early morning and early evening.
Non-motorized boats are free for guests’ use at Viamede.

Tour a local winery.

Visit Kawartha County Wines to sample a premium, local vintage. This family-owned winery produces a wide variety of fruit wines with samples and tours.

Fishing with Ben.

No one knows where the fish hide, except the locals. Each morning at 6:00, Ben will be more than happy to share the best spots on Stoney Lake for the plentiful Muskie, bass, and pickerel. Please sign up at the front desk.

Play a round of disc golf

Whoever completes the course in the fewest throws, wins! Viamede Resort has a great 18-hole forest disc golf course on our nature trails.

When the winter weather allows, we maintain an outdoor skating rink. Perfect for triple axels or shinny hockey games.

Hidden on our property is a beautiful, 100-year-old Viking Oak. Follow the marked trail to discover its wooded hollow, but tread softly… you don’t want to wake it from its slumber.
